Born and raised in DC Malecia has always been a fan of good music whether she was in the back of a Honda at 3 years old singing Something in My Heart by Michel'e or jamming to Whip Appeal by Babyface in her pjs at her grandma's house. She grew up on love songs and gospel so it's only natural that once she had the ability to write and create songs that she was drawn to those genres with those being some of her best works yet. Malecia sang in the choir in school and church and she loved the feeling that she felt inside. From singer to poet to songwriter Malecia's skills in songrwriting has grown and progressed over time. "I'd like to think that I have my own style of writing; I just do. It doesn't have to be this way or go by this rule or that rule; if it works it just does. I write what I feel, see, think and a lot of times I become an actress when I write and I love it. I don't like to hinder my creativity and it's just so much fun; I love how it makes me feel.
