Major: Music Production

Through my entire life, I have been absolutely fascinated with music. The concept of creating sound out of nothing was profound to me. I started playing the piano when I was young. Then when I was around eleven years old I started playing the saxophone in my school band. When I was thirteen years old I started lyrically writing my own music, and have been doing so for the last six and a half years. I started mixing my own music about roughly three and a half years ago. I started out on a very inexpensive editing program called "Mixcraft". Since then I have engineered a variety of genres of music. Such as country, acoustic guitar, and dubstep. Though, the majority of my work has went into engineering Hip-Hop. In the last year I have learned how to play the guitar and I am now currently in the process of learning how to produce my own beats via Ableton Live. I released a free C.D. in May of 2012. Which according to Youtube, was viewed in over 100 countries.

I respect all types of music though. Each genre has a piece of wisdom to offer. Though, the type of music that I have always been particularly drawn to is Hip-Hop. Now let me clarify. Not the Hip-hop that is in your face, degrades others, or that contentious in any way. I am talking about beautiful, poetic, lyrically intricate Hip-Hop. Such as Mr. J. Medeiros, Solillaquists of Sound, and Lecrae.

I have built three studios through the years. The most recent being the most high quality. My goals through all of this is to one day achieve the masters certificate through the Recording Connections. Then continue forward in working on getting a doctorate degree in music. Yes, I love music that much. I never feel like I can learn enough. I am always craving more information and knowledge. I love those experiences when I have been doing something musically related, whether it be engineering music, learning a new instrument, or writing lyrics. Then someone walks up to me and points out where I could improve, or gives me advice how to become even better. Because then I know that I get to go to bed that night, knowing that I have progressed since the time I woke up. I have a deep and abiding love for my faith.

I belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Mormon). In it, they teach that we are all given certain gifts, and that we were given these certain gifts to help people. To strive to make this world a better place. I feel that is why I am so passionate about music. I believe that through it, I can make a difference in this world. Music is one of the few things that all nations and cultures have, and I know that it is one of the few things in this world that can bring us all together.
