This week we are focusing in on the microphone set up and how the different styles of mics. The different styles of microphones have a unique sound to them depending on which you use, and their compatibility with the object/person you are using them on will give you a different feel. From mic to mic there can either be multiple uses or simply one. Like kick drum mics are generally only used for kick drums but a mic used to sing into can also be used for acoustic guitars and some other applications. it all depends on how you feel you will get the sound you are looking for. We set up a mic in the studio this last time around and went through some of Scotts mics. He showed me some tricks to wrapping cords and making them easily accessible. The setting up of a mic simple yet very important can cause damage or interference depending on how you portray it to the sound. Scott showed me how a simple object like a music stand can give the recording a delayed effect. I would even go to the extent of saying that any object close enough to the mic for sound to bounce off is something to look for in a studio. I learned to properly set up a stand and how to properly line the mic. As well as how to start, stop, and record over a track.
